I'm Lucy. Gather round and I shall tell you my story.
My journey to where I am now started almost 20 years ago when I went along to check out a local martial arts class. I absolutely loved it! I had never felt so energised, so strong, so in control. Within a year I had travelled to Indonesia to learn more about this ancient art and when I came back, I started teaching classes in my spare time. It was great to be able to share this amazing thing that had impacted my life in such a big way.
As my journey continued, I realised that not everybody wanted to to climb a volcano or break bricks with their feet! I got my Personal Trainer qualification so that I could work with lots of different people and help them to achieve their personal fitness goals in whichever way was best for them.
Then things took a turn. In 2012, when my first child was just one, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma. After 6 months of intensive chemotherapy I got the all clear. It took me a long time to recover from the effects of both the illness and the chemo. It had been a terrifying experience. The thing I had found most difficult was the lack of control that I felt I had, over my body, my health and my life. It was a feeling that stayed with me for a long long time.

The good news is that since then, things have gradually got better and better. I had a second child, despite being told that my treatment would leave me infertile. How lucky am I?! My experience of cancer and the desire to be around as long as possible for my children, compelled me to look deeper and deeper into how to achieve optimal health, particularly in regard to nutrition. My extensive research led me towards a Low Carb High Fat way of eating, which essentially consists of real food, devoid of sugar and processed carbohydrate, with lots of healthy fats. Since eating this way I feel energised, strong and in control!
